Halloween for Hunger is On the 31rst!!

Well, we're back in Caroline and our first project is underway.  Students from SPEAK and Junior High Leadership as well as a number of other students will be hitting the road Halloween night to collect food for our local food back.  Every little bit helps!!  Watch this video below to see how you can join in!

As well, keep checking back, we will be kicking off our clean water campaign at the pep rally on November 17th...we'll keep you up dated!  In the mean time never think that every little bit you do doesn't amount to anything.  It is, in fact, the only way we'll change the world!!

Super Busy Day!!

What a busy day!  Man we are tired!  Yesterday was so fantastic.  We Day was inspirational and over whelming.  Mikhail Gorbachev was there and was a real high light for me (though the students were not as enamored).  Seeing Down With Webster and Hedley live was really cool and Mark and Craig Keilberger were really inspiring.  We left with lots of ideas and spent a couple of hours at the hotel room planning before heading to our evening meeting.

It was awesome!!  We went to ROBERT BATEMAN secondary school in Abbotsford (not Matt Robertson as previously mentioned) and met with several leadership students.  There was a lot of great conversation and inspiring ideas tossed around.  Both sides shared the activities they have organized and ideas about future events.  Thanks to their school for buying us pizza and being fantastic hosts.  We got in at about 11:00 pm and collapsed in bed.

This morning we got up and several of us went for a run along the ocean wall.  We headed to Granville island, got suited up and headed out to see the whales.  No whales today though...but we did see a sea lion thrashing and then engulfing a huge halibut and the sea gulls that were fighing for the spoils.  We did see seals sunning themselves, bald eagles sitting watch on a weathered log and sea lions fighting on the rocks.  All in all a good day and each student left with a free pass to come again as we didn't see the beloved whales. Upon return to shore we went to the famed Granville market and ate butter chicken masala, mexican chicken with salsa, sushi, chinese food and fish and chips (All different eaters).  Students also bought candy and explored the various foods and wares so different from home.

Tonight is homework night.  Students are working diligently writing tests, doing math homework and reviewing.  The sea air took a lot out of us and so things are pretty mellow.  We wanted to get some time tonight to finish plans and get on line with our fellow classmates but we have hours of tests to write and our time seems so fleeting.

Attached are some pictures if you are following.  You may want to add a comment just so that I know that there is someone actually reading this!

Thanks to all our peeps at home (Megan, Taylor, Kayleen, Amy, Emily and Bradley!!).  I hope you enjoyed We day from a far and please keep checking our blog.  I will try and update it regularly

Vancouver trip 2011

Don't forget that the parent meeting for members going to Me to We is Tuesday Oct. 4th at 7:00 pm. Check out the video below. We're supposed to learn this dance before we go. So fun! Here is a link to a document that explains more about what is going on at the event.

Finally, please try and collect old batteries. They are using this to help people in third world countries who have a zinc deficiency.
